Wrestlemania to feature first-ever women’s main event

WWE has announced that WrestleMania 35 will feature a women’s match as the main event for the first time ever.

The match will feature Ronda Rousey defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch in a triple-threat match on April 7.

This has long been rumored since Becky Lynch’s wildly successful heel turn.

The match at WrestleMania 35 follows the WWE’s first-ever, all women’s pay-per-view event, called Evolution.  Since that time, the WWE has placed a greater spotlight on it’s female performers, including more prominent storylines and deeper character development that showcases their athleticism, charisma and star power.

Charlotte Flair took to Twitter to celebrate the announcement:

“It’s been my…it’s been OUR goal to main event #WrestleMania,” wrote Flair. “It was never just talk, it was the hard work of every woman past, present, and future to get us here.”
